The Head and Neck Cancer Foundation was started with a passion to improve early diagnosis and bring awareness to this disease while improving patients’ lives. Our energetic Board of Directors has been working diligently on our mission. We have organized annual state-wide oral cancer screenings and done a variety of fundraising activities to help support our goals. We are very proud that, with these funds raised, we have started a patient giving campaign. The “We Fight with You” campaign is proud to recognize our first recipient. Today we were pleased to surprise our patient Richard B!
Richard was first diagnosed with stage 4 (T2 N2b M0) tongue cancer in April 2017. He underwent surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. At age 62, he was unable to return to work as a Foreman at American Masonry. He has always been a proud and hard worker, doing physical work throughout his career. However, after his long and complex treatment he was never able to return to work. Throughout his treatment, he did not give up hope or his positive attitude.
In 2024, he is now cancer free although experiencing complications from the effects of radiation. He and wife, Kristy, remain strong, proud and kind. We appreciate their kind, courageous and positive attitude and have supported them through triumphs and tears.
We are honored to have them nominated as our first “We fight with You” recipient.
Especially during the Holiday season, we feel blessed to directly impact lives that have been forever changed by a cancer diagnosis. We remain driven because of moments like today. Thank you to all those who have supported our Foundation. Thank you to Richard and his family for staying strong and inspiring all of us.
