Golfing For a Cause: Second Annual Heads Up! Charity Golf Tournament Supports Those Impacted by Head and Neck Cancers

September 8th Golf Tournament Event at Oak Ridge Country Club, Hosted by the Head and Neck Cancer Foundation

On September 8th, the Head and Neck Cancer Foundation proudly hosted its second annual Heads Up! Charity Golf Tournament at Oak Ridge Country Club. The event was a success and brought together several physicians, dentists, patients, and families all touched by this disease, coming together to support the fight against head and neck cancers.

“It was wonderful to see so many faces, both new and familiar, joining in support of this important cause,” said Dr. Deepak Kademani, founder of the Head and Neck Cancer Foundation & Oral Surgeon practicing in Sartell, Minneapolis, and Willmar. “We are fortunate to have such a strong and supportive community that makes events like this possible.”

Thanks to the generosity of participants and sponsors, particularly main corporate supporters ZimVie and 2nd Swing, the tournament raised $36,190.17. These funds will support the Foundation’s programs, including free oral cancer screenings, patient support groups, the “We Fight with You” patient gift program, pathology research, and educational initiatives designed to raise awareness.

We also want to recognize additional generous supporters, including The Tummula Family, The Horan Family, Barbara Paulson, and Tareen Dermatology.

The tournament was full of energy, with plenty of friendly competition on the course. The Doro Real Estate Group claimed first place as a team, while Neil Horan won the 2nd Swing custom golf clubs contest. Dr. Scott Claiborne and Patricia Erickson earned the Par 3 prize, and Pete Rojas came out on top in the putting contest. Joe Voight and Rachelle Hauser drove the longest on the men’s and women’s holes, Cameron Lyle and Rachelle Hauser sank the longest putts, and Allison Plunkett and Danny Kristo hit closest to the pin.

The Head and Neck Cancer Foundation is dedicated to creating opportunities for the public to learn more, get screened, and support early detection efforts. Individuals are encouraged to visit their dentist regularly for screenings, as dentists can help identify abnormalities that may require further attention. Donations to the Foundation help fund future screening events and provide resources for patients.
